"Daddy, Mickey is eating BREAKFAST with us!" — my 3-year-old at Chef Mickey's, approximately 47 decibels louder than necessary.
Disney dining is its own universe. From $15 quick-service burgers to $75-per-person prix fixe meals, the options can be overwhelming — especially when you're trying to keep toddlers happy and your wallet intact.
Here's everything I've learned about Disney dining after 12+ meals across 5 trips with small kids.
Best Restaurants by Park
🏰 Be Our Guest
Fine dining inside Beast's Castle. The theming is incredible but portions are small for the price. Best for older kids.
Dad verdict: Go for lunch (cheaper) and eat dinner elsewhere.
🍕 Pinocchio Village Haus
Quick service overlooking It's a Small World. Flatbreads and pasta that toddlers actually eat.
Dad verdict: Our go-to with toddlers. No reservation needed, and the view keeps kids entertained.
How to Score Hard-to-Get Reservations
Book at Exactly 6:00 AM ET
Reservations open 60 days before your check-in date at 6:00 AM Eastern. Be logged into My Disney Experience with your party info saved. Popular spots fill in seconds.
Use a Reservation Finder
Sites like MouseDining.com will alert you when cancellations open up. Most people don't know about this, and it's how we got Space 220 two weeks before our trip.
Book More Than You Need
There's no penalty for cancelling (with 24+ hours notice). Book backups and cancel what you don't need. Everyone does this — it's why cancellations pop up constantly.
Best Character Dining for Toddlers
🏆 #1: Tusker House (Animal Kingdom)
Buffet format, safari-themed characters, and the best food quality of any character meal. Toddlers love the drums in the restaurant.
🥈 #2: Chef Mickey's (Contemporary Resort)
The classic. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto visit your table. Monorail views. Loud and chaotic (in a good way).
🥉 #3: Hollywood & Vine (Hollywood Studios)
Disney Junior characters at breakfast and lunch — perfect if your toddler is obsessed with Bluey or Doc McStuffins.

The Bottom Line
Disney dining doesn't have to break the bank. Pick 1-2 signature meals that create memories, use quick-service for the rest, and leverage your DVC villa kitchen for breakfasts and snacks.
The money you save on dining (and your DVC rental!) can go toward experiences your family will remember forever.
Save on Your Stay, Splurge on the Food
Book a DVC villa with a full kitchen and save $200+ on breakfasts alone. Then use those savings for a magical character dining experience.
