The Short Answer on Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2026
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2026 runs on 25 select nights from November 8 to December 22 at Magic Kingdom, 7:00 p.m. to midnight, with party guests admitted from 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $189–$229 per adult plus tax, and $10 less for kids 3–9.
As of September 22, 2026, every one of the 25 nights was still on sale. Last year the first date (opening night) sold out on September 10. So demand is running softer than recent years.
My call: that is a reason to pick your night calmly, not a reason to wait. Disney has never discounted a party ticket. A slow-selling night just stays at full price until it's gone.
- Best value: a mid-November weeknight before Thanksgiving week
- Best for a first-timer who wants the full Christmas feel: the first two weeks of December, avoiding Fridays
- Buy first if you're going to buy at all: opening night (Nov 8) and whichever nights are cheapest — those have sold first historically
- Skip if: your kids are under five and the budget is tight. Read the "Who Should Skip" section before spending $800 on one evening.
I've Read This Signal Wrong Before
On September 2 I wrote a post called MNSSHP 2026: It Didn't Sell Out. One Halloween party night, August 30, had gone off with tickets still available for the first time in years, and I treated it as a sign the party was cooling off.
It wasn't. By September 9 there were six nights left. By the evening of September 17 there were zero. All 38 nights sold out, and anyone who read my post and waited paid more, then got nothing.
I've left that post up with the corrections on it rather than quietly rewriting it, and I'm linking it here on purpose. Because the Christmas party is now showing a much bigger version of the same signal, and I don't want to make the same mistake at a larger scale.
A night that isn't selling isn't getting cheaper. It's just still available. Those are different things.
Here is what's actually true right now, and what I'd do with it.

Disney hasn't published a simple date-by-date price list outside the ticket checkout, so check the exact price for your night on Disney's purchase page before you commit. The pattern in past years has been cheapest in mid-November and most expensive around Thanksgiving and the final December weeks.

Will Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2026 Sell Out?
Last year (2025)
- Opening night sold out September 10
- More dates went later in September and through mid-to-late October
- Roughly half the season was gone before the first party even happened
- Every night ultimately sold out, as it has every year since the party returned after 2020
This year so far (2026)
- No night sold out as of September 22 — per WDWMagic's September 22 report
- The starting price went up $20 this year, which likely matters more than people think: the cheapest nights used to be the first to go
- Disney now runs a second Christmas party, Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios, and it's pulling some of the same families
So yes, demand is softer. That's real, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.
But look at what "softer" meant for Halloween this year: the season still sold out completely, just in a different order. The late-August nights lagged, and everything else went. I'd expect Christmas to behave the same way — opening night, the cheapest nights, and the last pre-Christmas nights go first; a few mid-week nights hang around longer. What I would not expect is a price drop. There has never been one.
If you have exactly one night that works for your trip, buy it now. If you have three possible nights, you can take a week to pick. That's the only real flexibility softness buys you.
The Best Night for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2026, by Family Type
1. 🏆 Best value: a mid-November weeknight (Nov 9, 12, 17 or 19)
Mid-November is the sweet spot on three things at once: party tickets sit toward the bottom of the price range, Disney hotels and DVC point charts are in one of their gentler stretches before Thanksgiving, and the weather is usually cooler without being cold. All the decorations are up. The parade is the same parade.
The one catch: it's early. If "Christmas" in your family means the week before Christmas, mid-November can feel like jumping the gun. Our kids have never once noticed.
2. Best for the full December feeling: Dec 1, 3, 8 or 10
First two weeks of December, weeknights. Busier than mid-November, cheaper and calmer than the last two weeks. This is the window I'd pick for a first-timer who wants it to feel like Christmas.
3. Opening night (Nov 8) — only if it's specifically what you want
Opening night has historically been the first date to sell out, every year. It's a Sunday, with a Monday to follow. Buy it if being there first matters to someone in your family. Otherwise the next Monday is the same show.
4. Thanksgiving week (Nov 24, 25, 27, 29) — go in with eyes open
Highest crowd pressure of the season, highest hotel prices, and parties on a holiday week make Magic Kingdom day-crowds lumpier. If Thanksgiving is when you can travel, it's fine — my Thanksgiving week guide covers how to handle it. Just don't choose it for the party.
5. Dec 18, 20, 22 — the last three
Closest to Christmas, among the priciest, and historically quick to sell. Also worth knowing: with a party still running on December 22, Disney's regular-hours Christmas parade and fireworks for day guests aren't likely to start before December 23. If you're there that week without a party ticket, check the schedule before you assume.

Dad Tip
Magic Kingdom closes to regular day guests at 6:00 p.m. on party nights, which keeps a lot of people out of the park all day. Party days are often the best days to do Magic Kingdom during the day — then either stay for the party or leave with everyone else at 6. We've planned around this for years and it's one of the few Disney crowd tricks that still works.
What One Christmas Party Night Costs a Family of Four
Two adults and two kids aged 3–9 on a $199 night: $199 + $199 + $189 + $189 = $776, plus tax. On a $229 night it's over $900.
That's the same trap I wrote about in the mistakes post — a party ticket has a deadline and feels urgent, so it gets bought first, and then the hotel gets squeezed to pay for it. I've done exactly that.
The order I'd do it in now:
- Price the room for the week.
- Decide whether the party still fits.
- Then pick the night.

The party ends at midnight. Tens of thousands of people leave at once. Where your bed is at 12:15 a.m. matters more than people expect, especially with a sleeping kid.
Tier 1 — Walk home
Bay Lake Tower ($24/pt)
Bay Lake Tower is a walk from Magic Kingdom — no bus, no monorail line at midnight. It's in David's Regular tier year-round, which makes it the cheapest way I know to walk back from a party. I compared it head-to-head in Bay Lake Tower vs. Polynesian.
Tier 2 — Monorail
Polynesian ($29/pt at 7–11 months)
One monorail stop or a boat. More expensive per point, and the monorail queue after a party is real — but it moves, and the resort is the one kids remember.
Tier 3 — Cheapest villa
Saratoga Springs or Old Key West ($22/pt)
The cheapest DVC resorts to rent, with the biggest rooms for the money. The trade-off on a party night is a bus back from Magic Kingdom at midnight. Fine for a family of big kids. Harder with a toddler asleep on your shoulder.

Arrive at 4:00, not 7:00.
Do the rides before 7.
Pick one parade and one fireworks, not both of everything.
The cookies and cocoa are included.
Bring a stroller even if you think you don't need one.

Buy it if:
- Your kids are roughly 5–12 and can realistically last until 10 p.m.
- It's your family's first holiday trip and the parade is the memory you're after
- You're already doing Magic Kingdom that day and can use the 4 p.m. early entry
- You've priced the room first and it still fits
Skip it if:
- Your youngest is under four. You'll pay close to $190 for them to fall asleep before the parade. Kids under three are free, which tells you who Disney expects to still be awake.
- The ticket is what's pushing the trip over budget
- You're only in Magic Kingdom once and would rather have a full normal day

What it isn't is a discount signal. I got burned reading Halloween that way a month ago. Pick a mid-November weeknight for value or an early-December weeknight for the feeling, buy it once you've priced the room, and if you only have one possible night, buy it this week.
