Late October (18-31) is the sweet spot for weather: humidity finally breaks, storms taper off, and Halloween itself (a Saturday in 2026) is milder than you'd guess since it isn't a school holiday. The Wine & Dine Half Marathon (Oct 22-25) adds runners but only minor park impact.

Typhoon Lagoon closes for the season September 9, so October trips are a one-water-park month (Blizzard Beach). Carousel of Progress is down for its big overhaul until 2027. And EPCOT's La Poutinerie — the poutine stand that replaced Refreshment Port — is very much worth a festival-day stop.

Here's the timing quirk that works in your favor right now: October 2026 is inside the 0-7 month booking window, and DVC Rental Store is currently running a $19-per-point promotion on new bookings inside that window — down from the usual $21-23 range. Planning math for a 6-night October studio at Saratoga Springs or Old Key West: roughly 75-95 points at $19/pt = ~$1,425-1,800 total. Disney's cash rate for a comparable deluxe week in October typically starts north of $3,000. Even a moderate resort often costs more than this.
Two honest caveats: the promo applies to new point bookings, not confirmed reservations, and inside 7 months the most in-demand resorts (Beach Club, BoardWalk, Poly) get thin — but the Saratoga/Old Key West/Animal Kingdom tier usually has real availability, and that's where the value lives anyway.
