Our first Animal Kingdom Lodge trip, I booked the wrong side of the resort and didn't find out until we were standing in the lobby. The kids were promised "the pool with the water playground." We were at Jambo House. The water playground is at Kidani Village — a shuttle ride away.

Booking the wrong one for your family's stage of life is a real (and really common) mistake.
We've now stayed at both sides on rented DVC points — Kidani in a 1-bedroom when our youngest was in the splash-pad phase, Jambo in a standard-view studio when the older two wanted bunk beds and table-service dinners. Rooms: Where Kidani Quietly Wins (Except for Bunk Beds)
Here's the structural difference: Jambo House is mostly a hotel with DVC villas tucked into part of it. Kidani Village is 100% Animal Kingdom Lodge DVC villas. That shapes everything about the rooms.
Kidani villas are bigger where it counts
A Kidani 1-bedroom sleeps 5 and — this is the part I underline for other parents — has a second full bathroom. When you're getting two kids showered and park-ready at 7:30am, that second bathroom is worth more than any theming. Kidani 2-bedrooms come in "dedicated" versions with two real queens in the second bedroom instead of a queen plus sleeper sofa.
Jambo has the bunk-bed magic and the cheap studios
Jambo House bunk beds show up in the value studios, and Jambo's value and standard studios are the lowest-point DVC rooms at any Deluxe resort — that's how families get savanna-adjacent stays for the cost of a Moderate. Dad Tip: Savanna-view rooms cost meaningfully more points on both sides. Standard view at Kidani often overlooks the parking area — but you can walk to the savanna overlook in two minutes. We book standard and spend the savings on a night at Sanaa.
Pools: Kidani's Uwanja Camp Is a Kid Magnet
The Kidani Village pool — Samawati Springs — has zero-depth entry and a 128-foot slide, but the real star is Uwanja Camp: a three-zone water playground with dump buckets, water cannons, and climbing areas built for the 2-8 age bracket. On our Kidani stay, our youngest would have skipped Magic Kingdom for it. I'm not exaggerating; we have the meltdown footage.
Jambo's Uzima pool is big, pretty, and calmer — zero-entry and a 67-foot slide, but no playground. Great for families whose kids actually swim; less thrilling for the floaties crowd.
Both pools are officially for guests of their own side, so book the side whose pool you actually want.
Winner: Kidani.
Dining & That Lobby: Jambo Takes It
Jambo House has Boma (the buffet our kids rank above every character meal), Jiko for a parents-night-out, The Mara quick service, and the six-story lobby with the rope bridge that makes every kid stop and stare. Kidani has Sanaa — the bread service alone justifies the trip, and you can watch zebras from your table — plus a small grab-and-go. That's it.
Staying at Kidani doesn't lock you out of Jambo's restaurants: it's a 10-15 minute walk on the marked path or a 5-minute shuttle. We did Boma twice from Kidani. It's fine — just not "wander down in swim gear" convenient.
Winner: Jambo.
What It Costs in 2026: Rented Points vs Disney Cash Rates
Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the best DVC rental values on property because studio point charts are gentle. Typical 2026 numbers (value/adventure season, at ~$21/point through an established broker):
